Wisconsin Spring Date Ideas (At Home)
1. Learn a new Wisconsin game
Some classic ones are cribbage, sheepshead, and euchre. We also love to play the dice game called Farkle. That’s all you need are six dice, a dice cup, and something to keep track of the score. Here the official Farkle rules.
2. perfect your brandy old fashioned recipe
Try your hand at crafting the perfect Brandy Old Fashioned for a new spin on happy hour! Here are a few recipes to try: Taste of Home, Edible Milwaukee, and Midwest Living. Don’t forget to write down your favorite in your recipe book for future reference!
3. Plan out your garden
It’s the perfect time to start planning out your garden! Whether you want to go all-out this season or just keep it simple with a few indoor pots, it’s fun to sit down and decide what you want to plant together. To visualize our garden better, I started using the Kitchen Garden Planner which has an easy drag and drop feature. It’s also really nice when figuring out companion planting.
It’s also helpful to dedicate a notebook to gardening so that you can look back on it each year. Check out this beautiful log book from New York Botanical Garden, this hardcover handbook, or this binder style journal.
4. Have an outdoor movie screening
What could be more romantic than a cozy, backyard movie theater? Pick the warmest night of the week, dust off the patio furniture, and throw on your favorite movie! If you need to create your own theater, check out this video of a DIY outdoor movie screen setup by HGTV!
5. Wisconsin pizza farm night
Recreate the pizza farm vibe by dining al fresco on a picnic blanket in your backyard! Start by baking a tasty, homemade pizza together inside and then instead of enjoying it at your dining table, bring it outdoors! Add some candles, wine, and a little background music and you got yourself one awesome date night.
