Pine Cove Cabin
Pine Cove Cabin is one of those places that checks all the boxes for a classic “up north” stay. Built in the late 1920s but renovated in 2017, Pine Cove has that perfect mix so many of us want in a getaway – rustic yet modern. I love cabins that feel… well, cabin-y! As if they’ve been passed down generation after generation. Pine Cove feels exactly like this but is also impeccably maintained. The place was spotless and comfortable with touches of history throughout, from the hardwood floors to the stone-sided fireplace.
It sits high above the shoreline, overlooking Lake Katherine; one of the most sought-after lakes in northern Wisconsin. As you look out the sunroom, you’ll see tall pines in every direction and a long stretch of lakeshore at the bottom (108 feet to be exact). This was my favorite room in the house and where I spent the most time.
The kitchen couldn’t have been any cuter with its bright-blue cabinets, white dishes, and pops of red accents here and there. This space is fully stocked with everything you could possibly need – there’s even a pair of Moscow mule mugs!
I woke up for sunrise during my stay and walked down to the shoreline to check out the view. It’s such a beautiful spot and I can just imagine how nice it is in the summertime. They offer an endless amount of lake amenities including, two canoes, two kayaks, a paddleboat, two stand up paddleboards, a floating swim raft, a hammock, a furnished screened-in lakeside gazebo with adjacent deck, a charcoal grill, a picnic table, and a fire pit & firewood. Oars and lifejackets are also provided. I mean, seriously, what more could you ask for?! ?
I really enjoyed my stay at Pine Cove and would definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a place near Minocqua. It can sleep up to 10 people and has three bedrooms upstairs and even more beds in the partially-finished basement. Also, the basement has a ping-pong table… just sayin’ 🙂
Pine Cove also has two bathrooms, one of which has a vintage clawfoot tub! Keep in mind, you must bring your own linens (ie. kitchen towels, bath towels, bedsheets).
