A Perfect Spot to Get on the Ice Age Trail This Fall
Yesterday, I decided to take a drive to see how the fall colors were coming along. I ended up finding this little spot called Alta Springs State Fishery Area. Located in Lincoln County, just 20 minutes northeast of Merrill, this small section of public land is a perfect spot to get on the Ice Age Trail this fall!
There’s a hidden gravel entrance called Alta Springs Road right off of Hwy J. It’s actually supposed to be a U-shaped road but the bridge was out so I went to the second entrance (see the map below). There are clear signs as to where the Ice Age Trail starts. You can go either north or south. I chose to go north!
The trail was very well marked and brought me through some beautiful fall foliage! I had brought my drone along and couldn’t believe how colorful it looked from above! This is definitely a neat little spot to check out this fall!
